AI Access Troubleshooting

The page loads, but why does the response stop halfway?

Connection checkKeep your current egress route while checking streaming connections and app proxy settings. Switch routes only if needed.

Region & account Egress IP Streaming connection

This page offers route selection and configuration guidance. It does not reflect the real-time availability of any tool or guarantee that a particular egress IP will always be accepted by a target service.

AI tool network requirements

Loading the homepage only confirms that some requests succeeded. Sign-in, content generation and file transfers may use different request paths.

Region availability and account eligibility

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other tools set their own service availability rules. An egress IP’s region may be one factor, but it is not the only one. Account region, organization policies, paid-plan eligibility and feature availability can also affect access. Check the target tool’s current official guidance before choosing a route. Switching egress IPs does not change account eligibility or unlock features that are not available to you.

Egress IPs and risk checks

Different egress IPs in the same region may produce different verification results. Services may consider IP reputation, request behavior and session changes, without publishing their full decision criteria. A “residential IP” or “dedicated IP” should not be treated as sufficient to guarantee access; VPNMT does not promise these IP attributes. If you see a verification prompt, read the on-screen guidance, keep your activity consistent and avoid repeated sign-ins or frequent region changes.

Long-lived connections and streaming responses

AI responses often arrive in streamed chunks, so the connection needs to stay open throughout the request. A page loading quickly does not mean a long-lived connection will remain stable. Device sleep, Wi-Fi changes, proxy timeouts and network congestion can all interrupt output. To troubleshoot, compare routes on the same device, with the same prompt and network conditions. Check both how quickly the response starts and whether it continues, rather than relying only on the client’s connection status.

Tool and route comparison

The table below highlights what to look for when choosing a route; it is not a fixed list of recommended regions. The target tool’s official rules determine its supported regions and feature eligibility.

Tool × route requirements
Tool What to check Route selection How to verify
ChatGPT Region availability, sign-in session, streaming A route within the supported region that keeps egress stable throughout the session Sign in, generate a response to completion, then test file uploads
Claude Account eligibility, risk checks, longer responses A route with consistent egress and stable sustained transfers Distinguish account prompts from connection drops and check whether the response completes
Gemini Account region, organization access, feature availability A route within the official service region that supports the full sign-in request path Check account sign-in, conversations and access to the required features separately
Copilot Product access, account entitlements, organization policies A route that covers both sign-in and requests to the target product Test the web app separately; for coding assistance, test the IDE too
Midjourney Sign-in authorization, task submission, image loading A route that handles authorization, generation tasks and resource transfers consistently Check task submission status, then confirm the preview and download complete
Cursor Editor process, extension requests, model access A route that works with the app’s proxy settings and supports persistent connections Test conversations and code requests inside the editor, not just in a browser

Sign-in checklist

Check the official service regions and account requirements first, then choose an appropriate egress route. Once authorization begins, stay on the same route until you return to the tool and the session is established. The browser, third-party authorization page and redirect back may use different domains. If your proxy rules cover only the main site, sign-in can get stuck midway.

If sign-in keeps looping, make sure the browser allows the required cookies, the device clock is correct and privacy extensions are not blocking authorization requests. Try a separate browser profile to rule out extensions or an old session, but don’t clear all your data without first identifying the cause. Preserve any valid session, and don’t create duplicate accounts as a network troubleshooting step.

Handle verification prompts, region notices and organization access restrictions according to the instructions shown. A network route changes the request path; it cannot replace identity verification, a paid subscription or administrator approval. If your account is under review, contact the tool’s official support instead of randomly switching egress routes.

Web app vs. API access

A working browser does not mean your command line, backend service or model API uses the same route.

Web sessions

Web apps rely on browser sign-in, scripts, API requests and static assets working together. If the main page looks fine but a response never arrives, use the browser’s developer tools to inspect failed requests and distinguish an expired authorization from a rejected API call or a dropped connection. If images or attachments fail, check their resource requests separately before concluding the whole tool is unavailable.

API calls

APIs typically have separate keys, quotas, model access and billing rules. Don’t assume web account entitlements also apply to the API. Confirm that you’re using the official endpoint and correct authentication method, then check whether the process making the request goes through the proxy. Don’t attribute authentication failures, exhausted quotas or missing model access to a route issue.

Streaming APIs also require the calling application to read the response in chunks. If an intermediary proxy buffers requests or the app has a short read timeout, the user may see nothing for a while and then receive the whole response at once. Check the SDK, application server and reverse proxy as well as the egress route. Before retrying, confirm what happened to the original request to avoid duplicate usage.

Connecting your development environment

Treat the browser, terminal, editor and remote runtime as separate sources of requests.

Command line and SDKs

Some command-line tools read HTTPS_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY or ALL_PROXY; others require a proxy to be set with a dedicated option. Check the tool’s official documentation for supported proxy types, and use the listening address and port shown by your local client rather than copying settings from another device. New settings usually apply only to processes started afterward, so restart the relevant terminal or app after making changes.

Also check whether NO_PROXY unintentionally excludes the target service. Start with a basic connection test that contains no business data, then verify authentication and model access. Provide keys through environment variables or a secrets manager, never in public repositories, screenshots or shared logs. Remove authorization details and sensitive request content from troubleshooting logs.

IDEs, extensions and remote development

Requests from Cursor or another IDE may come from the editor’s main process, an extension host or a remote development environment. The editor’s proxy settings may not cover every extension, and some runtimes may ignore the system proxy. After configuration, test from the plugin you actually use and check its output panel. On corporate networks with custom certificates, follow your organization’s instructions to configure trusted certificates; don’t disable certificate checks to hide errors.

CI, containers and remote hosts

Connecting your local computer to VPNMT does not automatically change the egress route of a remote CI runner or cloud host. A local address inside a container may not point to the host machine. Map where the request originates, where DNS is resolved and which proxy forwards it before deciding where to configure access. Use organization-approved connection methods, check the target service’s rules for runtime regions and automated requests, and store keys securely in your workflow.

Common errors and causes

Identify which layer the error occurs at, then change only the settings related to that layer.

The page loads, but messages stay pending. What should I do?

First confirm that you’re still signed in, then check whether the generation request was sent. If other pages work but the generation API fails, the cause may be proxy rules for the API domain, service availability or account access. Keep the egress route unchanged and reproduce the issue with a short prompt. If you confirm it’s a connection issue, compare other routes in the same region.

If a response stops halfway, does that mean I’ve run out of plan data?

Not necessarily. Check your plan status and remaining data in the dashboard, then see whether Wi-Fi changed, the device went to sleep or the app timed out. If repeated requests stop at a similar point, check the caller’s output limits and error logs too. Don’t assume every interruption is caused by insufficient bandwidth.

The tool says my region isn’t supported. Will switching routes fix it?

Not necessarily. Egress region may be one factor; account details, organization rules and feature availability can also affect access. Check the official supported regions, then confirm the egress route actually used by your request. Avoid cycling through multiple regions, and don’t mistake a successful network connection for meeting the service’s eligibility requirements.

My browser works, but Cursor or the terminal can’t connect. What should I check?

Check the process’s proxy settings before changing routes. Confirm that environment variables are available to the current process, whether the IDE extension uses its own network settings, and whether a remote development process is running on another host. Identify whether the error occurs during DNS resolution, connection setup, certificate verification or authentication, then make a targeted change.

Why do image previews fail when text conversations work?

Images may use different domains and transfer paths. Check whether proxy rules exclude the resource request, a browser extension blocks it, or the target tool is still processing the task. For generation tools such as Midjourney, distinguish an unfinished task or expired resource link from a failed download. A blank preview alone does not mean the egress route is unavailable.

Choose a route for your workflow

Regional requirements, session consistency and testing in the actual app matter more than a route name alone.

For everyday web chats, choose an egress route in a region supported by the target tool and stay on it after signing in. For long responses, file handling and IDE chats, watch for interruptions during sustained transfers. If performance fluctuates during peak hours, compare IEPL dedicated lines, relay routes and direct connections within the same region. These terms describe how routes are organized; they don’t guarantee eligibility for any tool or predict actual performance.

Developers should confirm that the requesting process is using the proxy before comparing routes. If the web app works but the API doesn’t, check API access and the process’s network path. If local requests work but CI requests fail, inspect the remote runtime. Keep the prompt, device and runtime consistent while comparing routes, and change one factor at a time to identify what made the difference.

VPNMT supports Windows / macOS / iOS / Android / Linux, with unlimited devices online at the same time. Get clients and subscription details from the dashboard after signing in and meeting the plan requirements. When using multiple devices, test the request path for each browser and app; unlimited devices does not mean every app automatically inherits proxy settings.

Compare plans by how you use data

Monthly plans: ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date; mid-cycle upgrades are prorated by the remaining days. Data add-ons: ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB and ¥658/3000GB. Use them as needed; they never expire. Track actual usage across attachments, images, voice and other network activity rather than estimating a fixed amount per conversation.

These prices cover VPNMT network service only, not subscriptions or API fees for third-party AI tools. Payment methods include Alipay / WeChat Pay / USDT, and all plans come with a 60-day money-back guarantee. Before choosing a plan, review the route types and compare data reset terms with your usage patterns.
